Went to the fair with all the kids. Every one had fun and no one got lost. The farm was the highlight for the younger kids-can't beat newborn piglets and furry llamas. Loved the rides, the games, prizes, free stuff, music, and shows; especially the acrobats! Super fun day.

Earlier this month, we had a family reunion with Tyler's family in St. George, UT. Everyone in the family was there. 52 people. We had a blast raging through the town. We went on some great hikes, pool hoppin, visited the temple, cave splunkin, and had lots of laughs.

Presidents Day weekend

We had a great Presidents Day weekend. We spent the first part in Laguna Beach with the family. It was the best weather, around 75 degrees. We saw a Falcon and Hawk show over at the Montage and the kids loved that.

On Sunday, we stayed with Tyler's sister Kim and her family in Corona. We pulled over at some random farm and got to know the farmer. He let us hang with him for a few hours and let the kids feed all his animals (llamas, deer, bulls, geese, donkeys...). The kids haven't stopped talking about it. They now are wanting to be farmers when they grow up.

Don't ask me what Alex is. Tyler dressed him last minute as a "tough guy". Somehow, he liked his costume.

For Thanksgiving, we got together with Tyler's family. All of them but 2 (Jared's wife Kristin had a baby right before). I think we were around 55 this year. We have to reserve a church now to all hang. We had the best day ever - eating, playing, visiting and being thankful for each other.

The other day we took the kids to Mile Sq Park for a walk around the lake. Beautiful day and all, until Brock disappeared.

We heard a bunch of ladies screaming and looked over, and there was Brock diving on top of a duck and then carrying it around by the wings. Crazy kid. See if you can find him below (you'll have to blow it up).

I hate when Summer ends. We live for this time of the year. Owell, that's life. We are trying hard to squeeze the last week together and end with a bang.

We just returned from AZ for a week long family reunion with a million cousins. So good to see everyone on the Dray side. We wore out the kids with some fun times (cave exploring, little olympics, hikes, swimming everyday, etc).

Last few days of snorkeling, surfing, and just having so much time together - until school steals my kids away again.

Summer Fun

Life is going great. We've had the best Summer so far. It's just going too fast. Lot's of cousins, swimming, beach, and family fun.

Tyler took Sara and Cora camping in Doheny last weekend. They had fun with all their cousins. Not a bad campsite, right on the sand.

We just got back from spending a few days in Big Bear with Tyler's brothers family. Never a dull moment there. We hiked, played, explored, and the boys shot bows and arrows and even shot a squirrel. Here's where Craig and Tyler were skinning it and cooked it up. Actually pretty tasty.

Last night Tyler and I went on a
hot date to the Wedge. Waves were
so big. There were so many people watching
that we got stuck for several hours down in Balboa
(till almost midnight). Not a bad place to be stuck in traffic (and not bad company). We just chilled at the beach till it mellowed out. We tried hard to get on TV with the News casters there. Next time, dinner first.

US Open surf competition this weekend. Over 100k people here in HB watching it. I think we're done fighting the crowds for a bit, but we had a blast.

Poor Brock split his chin open on a hike. We discovered Liquid Bando today which is like super glue with anticeptic. A few hours later, Alex ripped his toe open and we used it there. How did we survive without it? Every family needs this stuff on hand. Hopefully, no more stitches anymore.

Death of the Trampoline

The other day the kids were jumping on the tramp and the whole thing ripped in half. It's a gonner. We have been fortunate not to have any accidents on it yet. Rare, I know. A million close calls though. Are we mean parents if we don't replace it? The kids are ticked and are planning a revolt. "But Dad, everyone has a tramp... We won't ever get hurt...". Yae, yae, yae. We told them that they'll have so much more fun without it. Hiking, skating, biking, exploring, beaching... We'll see.

Alex is trying to figure how this camera grew in the garden. Weird.

Joshua Tree

We just returned from camping in Joshua Tree with our great friends, the Billings. We haven't been the biggest campers for the last few years. Newborns...and all. We had such a blast together. Kids all were so great and haven't stopped talking about their adventures.

Here's everyone all piled in.

Both families brought propane stoves but no one remembered pans. Oops. We got a little creative by cooking our eggs and pancakes over the fire, in orange peels. Somehow worked. Good memory.

Spring

We've been too lazy to blog, or too busy. One of the two. Anyways, life is peachy. We've put in a few gardens around the yard and they are jamming. We can't get tomatoes to grow, but we're not giving up. The kids have had so much fun with the yard these days. They beg their dad every day to go work together in the garden. Jumping on a shovel is more fun than jumping on the tramp I guess.

Brock and Tyler fishing together. After a while of not catching anything in the ocean, they started fishing in the tide pools and caught a bunch of little ones.

Alex's new favorite hobby. Archery. This will be interesting.

The Tree

I like trees as much as the next gal, but for years I wanted our big sycamore down. It's the messiest tree ever, puff balls and leaves are never ending. It grows over the wires, the neighbor's yard and over the back wall. We had another tree belonging to the city just behind the back wall that hides the wires and we don't have to take care of it. So, the other day I was just done. I wanted it out, that day. I saw an opportunity and took it! I knew Tyler would understand about being spontaneous (of all people). He agreed. So, we called up our good friend/neighbor Ed, who is the pro-fix-everything-guy. He was kind enough to offer! After a few hours and a whole lot of help from fearless Ed, it is gone.

We were worried about the landing. One mistake, it would go through our wall and hit a car, or our even worse, our house. It took out a few of our other trees on the landing but we'll take it. At least we still had the city's tree.

Well, 2 days later, the city came and chopped all their trees down. oops. We're feeling a bit exposed. ha. I'm still so happy to have that sycamore gone. (Yes those are my maternity jeans, and nope....)

With all this wood, we have a goal to cook dinner over an outside fire once a week. What do you eat for dinner besides chili dogs and foil dinners? We will have to start getting creative I guess, or just pull out the smores!

With all this tree stuff happening, time for some good tunes. About trees of course. Tyler wrote this song back in the good 'ol days and it's always been a favorite of mine and the kids! Especially this week. (click the widget below)

Fairwell Circlepix

After nine wonderful years here at CirclePix, I am now passing the torch and hanging up the gloves to move on to another new and exciting challenge. I've accepted a position to work with my 2 brothers in the home healthcare arena, working with the elderly.

As I have been slowly packing up my office over the last few weeks, so many memories of the early days have flooded my mind. Crazy. We started this company with just a few people in Rob's upstairs bonus room. Just a few of us buddies banging things out trying to figure some way to make things work. We went from just a few tours a month to over 10,000 tours a month, with over 400 photographers nationwide and somewhere around 150 employees in our corporate office, at one point. Although I'm so proud of all that we've accomplished together, the sweetest thing is the many friendships and memories that were made along the way. So thankul for all I've learned from everyone, past and present, at Cpix. I expect great things for the future of the company and wish everyone the best- and please keep in touch.

Slingshots

We just took the kids out hiking in the Laguna Beach canyon. They were able to get their new slingshots all worn in. I think Santa really scored on these puppies. Out of all the toys and clothes they received, nothing holds a flame to these wrist rockets. Brock is sleeping with his. He wants to take it to the beach to nail seagulls. What has Tyler created? They are already talking about their next weeks adventure in the woods with their new slingshots.

Christmas Eve

For me, there's nothing like Christmas Eve! Greatest feeling in the air, good food, family, singing, gazoos, bells, skits, stories, kids all wired wondering if Santa is going to come through or not... Christmas Eve just simply rules! This year we had 40+ family members in town and all met at my sister Kim's house in Corona. They were amazing sports but I feel bad for her neighbors. Good times- Thanks Kim and Eric!

Tyler just got released from his calling and called to be a ward missionary and to serve on the activities committee. The kids are so excited to sit with him again at church.

Change of plans. Well, whatever they were, now Trevor has pneumonia. Yesterday, we took him in for a possible ear infection and came out 4 hours later with 3 perscriptions to treat him for pneumonia. Yikes. We spent last night doing laps together and snuggling. So sad to see him so sick. He's already seeing tons of improvement and we'll see what the dr says today at his next apt.

The kids have found creative ways to get him to sleep. They call it the "magic blanket train". I'm all for it.

The "Fun Zone"

We just spend the afternoon at the Balboa Fun Zone. We found this little tide pool museum and the kids thought they were at Sea World. Hope that counts for this year.

A while back, Tyler taught Brock how to catch a pigeon. I thought they were lucky the first time. Now, Brock catches them where ever he goes. It's hilarious, but this time the bird was trying to fly away so hard that half his tail ripped off. oops. The girls were ticked, but dad reassured them that pigeons are just like lizzards -their tales come and go as they please. huh?

Final Days of Maui

Karen wanted a coconut real bad. It had to be fresh. What do you do?

Sean challenged me to an all out eating competition. It was time to see once and for all who is the king. We ordered the "Bonanza" Burger which was like 1.5 lbs of meat.

As you can see, I got schooled. I guess I'm not a kid anymore. Nice work Sean.

Us, agonizing over leaving this place. I guess all great things must come to an end.

Day 4

Karen and I got up early and went to Iao Valley which is up in the rain forrest. We found a sweet trail and went hiking a few miles. It was amazing. We picked fruit off the trees and had a fun picnic. Can't believe how beautiful the mountains are here. No one to be found, except a few local skinny dippers. (I didn't look, but I think Karen peeked)

We found the coolest little, private beach on the way home and went snorkeling together.

Here we are cooking up a few of our fish we speared. Good stuff. Not quite as good as The Melting Pot restaurant where we went afterward. Man these guys know how to eat right. I'm new to all these restaurants, but they are teaching me the ropes.

Day 3 Maui

Each day, we've been getting up at like 6 am (3 hours difference). We all go on a long walk along the beach. So fun hanging with everyone.

We had breakfast at The Plantation, which is a real famous golf course with the best views.

Karen and I went spearing at Black Rock. We nailed 3 different eels but all beat us and got off. One was huge and had a perfect shot in the neck. We had quite the audience underwater and everyone was screaming and freaking out at the fight. When it finally wiggled it's way off, he turned around and went after me and almost bit me. I haven't been that scared for a while. We got to swim with 2 huge turtles. Karen was in heaven.

This sweet Hawaiian dude appeared from nowhere to light the torches. He looked like he needed a hand.

Maui Day 2

Today we all cruised to Honolua Bay. Such amazing snorkeling. Rob put this little video together of all of us. Later, Karen and I went snorkeling right in front of our resort. After teaching her how to use the spear, she swims down and nailed a huge puffer fish. oops. I was dying.

Maui Day 1

We finally arrived in Maui. What a dream. Karen and I, a bunch of friends, no responsibilities staying at Rob and Lisa's Marriott resort (water front with a dream view). We had Karen's mom lined up to babysit all the monsters, then she had some last minute health problems. She's out. My parents were all set. A few hours before our flight out, my mom gets nailed by a car on her bike and ends up with a broken foot (both moms are okay). Sheesh, she's out. We were seconds away from canceling everything and my brothers all pulled together and insisted on making it all happen. They are the greatest ever. They're even keeping them all together the whole time. We feel so blessed to be here!

Splash in the Fountains

Water is just so entertaining. We spent some time at Fashion Island on Saturday. "Leave the poor fish alone." Yells one "free thinker".

Go work for your money girl! Whoopsie Daisy! Paige was working a little too hard...reaching a little too far. Luckily the nice security guard ran to the rescue and pulled her out of the water directly behind where Tyler and I were sitting. (Oops!)

Camping, anyone?

We were so lucky to spend last week camping in San Diego at the San Elijo campground with some of Tyler's brothers and their families. Our kind of camping -right on the beach, perfect waves, snorkeling, showers, a little market right on site... Couldn't be better, except for the loudest train that kept honking every night. Unreal. Trevor sure loved it. Anyways, we had the best time. Good way to end the summer together.

Up the Coast

We just returned from taking the family up the coast all week. We stayed each night in a different coastal city from Montecito to San Luis Obispo. We discovered so many amazing beaches, hikes, parks, etc. and just hung out together. It's quite the adventure sleeping all 9 of us in one hotel room each night, but the kids did great. It was one of our favorite trips ever. It's always great to be home. Here are a few photos.

This year we broke a long tradition of watching the Tustin fireworks show. Although it's a great show, we decided to fight the crowds and head for the beach this year. We were lucky to hang with our great friends (the Fairbanks), at their amazing beach house. What a hook up, especially with parking.

After the great firework show, the grunion were supposed to be running (thin fish that come lay their eggs on shore. They are a blast to try to catch with your hands). It's not too often that they are here. We tried, but struck out. Next time kids!!

For a while now, Tyler has been telling the kids he's gonna take them to the biggest bike jumps in CA. They have been really excited, especially Brock. He really built these jumps up. When we pulled up, the kids were screaming at how big the jumps were and their dad was the hero. After about half an hour, they started to figure out that the hills were too big and you really couldn't get air unless you were on a motorcycle. Tyler blamed it on the kids, telling them they weren't fast enough, but we all know the truth. Hilarious. He made it up to them by taking them squirrel hunting with spears (sticks) and we took them to frozen yogurt.

The Empty Nesters

This whole week, our 3 oldest were at "grandcamp" with some cousins and Tyler's parents. Once a year, Tyler's parents take cousins between 6-12 for a couple of days. They take them on adventures and show them lots of fun. I Can't wait to pick them up today. As much as we missed them, it was so nice to be with only 4 kids. Tyler took a few days off and we went to Big Bear at a little resort together. We had a blast but we forgot to take pictures until the way home.

Hook, Slice & Shank Classic

Every year, we get together with a bunch of buddies from the Orange Stake and have a guys adventure for a few days. Some years we have up to 50 depending on what we plan. This year, cousin Kurt threw the Hook, Slice and Shank Classic in Vegas. We had the sweetest weekend. A few of the guys, I haven't seen for almost 20 years. Always so great getting together for a few days while our poor wives hold down the fort.

Has anyone gone on the rides on top of the Stratosphere? Holy cow! They are out of control. Hanging over an 800 ft ledge. My favorite was "The Big Shot". It was a free fall ride on top of the Strat. Freaked me out.

The big Fathers and Sons outing was this weekend. Other than Aaron wandering off and a bunch of us searching for him for 1/2 hour, finding him alone in the woods a few hundred yards away, it went just great. Sheesh. Freaked me out!! It's a great time to camp when it's around 100 degrees and everyone is sticking to their sleeping bags. ha. The boys somehow just love it. ??

Man Down

Saturday Tyler left to go surf with his brother Jared. He left at 9:00 a.m. He should be returning around 11:00 a.m. Right? Wrong! Tyler was gone for less than 20 minutes when the phone rang. If Tyler calls me in the middle of a surf, it's never good. Turns out he biffed it pretty bad on a wave and lightly tore his MCL in his left knee. Looks like I will have 8 children instead of 7 for a bit, rats! By the way Tyler, the surf report said waves were 2-3 feet on Saturday, not 20 ft plus. Nice try!

Gizzards?

I'm at the store the other day looking for a deal on chicken, because chicken rules. Anyways, I see this big sign that says chicken gizzards and hearts. Huh? Okay, it sparked me a bit. I'm trying to figure out what the heck a gizz is. This old lady comes up and starts loading her cart with these packs of gizzies and a bunch of chicken liver. I'm watching her acting like a freak and I finally say "mam, I've never seen someone so hungry for gizzards. Will you teach me about them?". She tells me they're the best part of the chicken, and tells me how to fry em... hmm. Not a bad deal. What the heck? I start loading my cart like a freak.

I came home so stoked and gathered the kids around to tell them of my new wise and old friend and got them so excited for our new family find. Karen gives me that look, then starts busting up. I assured her that we will not share with those who mock.

Well, these things turned out to be a joke. They're like rubber. I finally googled what they are and that didn't help. I'm now thinking that old lady worked there and I got scammed. 1 pack down, 9 more left. Sheesh. These kids aren't helping a bit. It's all on my shoulders. I will finish the job and will not be defeated.

The Buxton Bag

It's been a while since this happened, but I was needing a new purse. I prepped everyone to start looking out for a good purse, a smaller one, that would help me keep my stuff organized. The girls were watching a show one day and called me in "Mom! Mom! You have to buy this purse, it is PERFECT for you!"

That's when it all started....The Buxton Bag. The Buxton bag can hold it all! It can even hold 2 full-sized water bottles after all your stuff is packed in there. It looks amazing, real leather and your hands are free to do all the great stuff that a mother of seven can only dream of. This purse lady is smooth too, you have to see how sleek she is with the Buxton, her hands, the shoulder strap, everything! I was totally sold, yet could not imagine buying anything from off the TV. I never have, Tyler never, never would.

The Buxton bag continued to haunt me. We watched the commercial about 10 times together and I finally decided to get it. I told all the kids to get the number for me if they happened to see the commercial and it never came on anymore. What a bummer.

One night Tyler and I were in our room watching a movie and I was feeding Trevor. The Buxton bag was back!! "Tyler run and get my credit card and the phone!" This was a big deal. Tyler flew through the hall as fast as he could and started rummaging through my ridiculous purse, normally he refuses to get anything out of there. Yeah, I was so excited to get my new Buxton bag and the kids knew it would be coming one of these days in the favored big brown UPS truck.

Then the day finally came, like 6 weeks later. We waited forever. The UPS truck arrived and we all sat around the kitchen table, opened the box and celebrated the new arrival. Thirty bucks for a piece of leather that looks like plastic! The inside is lined with nylon lining! And a tag that says made in China. What a joke. I could see these things hanging all over Wall-Mart. How could I hide my disappointment? After all the build-up, no one can know that I HATE the Buxton. I showed the whole family a great display of what the Buxton bag can hold and do. Inside my angry little heart I couldn't believe how deceiving the Buxton lady was. This purse is horrible. I made Tyler believe I loved it without ever saying so. That night I went to enrichment night. I told the story to some friends and shared my deepest regrets for my foolish purchase. I imagined my true regrets getting back to my family, so I came home and spilled it all. It was a sad ending to the Buxton Bag. I think Sara is going to try to sell it at our next garage sell. She's gonna get big bucks for the Buxton. I will never fall for an info-mercial again. I hope.

Spring Break

We had the best time over Spring break. Tyler took the week off and we just played so hard everyday till we were shot. We spent a few days in San Diego at a resort and the rest of the week we just beached hopped. Tyler surfed everyday and the kids boogie boarded. Fun times.

One of the days, Paige got stung on the neck by a jelly fish (wasn't too bad), so Tyler swam out and caught it, to make her feel better.

Tyler took the kids alligator hunting with their spears at a place they called "Alligator Creek". No gators were spotted, but they had a nice long hike and I had a nice long nap at home.

Late and Loud Night

I remember in the 4th grade, my oldest brother Craig brought home his first few records (yes, vinyl. I'm old.). Groups were Bad Religion and Social Distortion. Because it was punk, we hid it from our parents and listened to it like crazy knowing if we got caught we were toast. ha.

Tonight, a bunch of us just got in from seeing Bad Religion. Show was amazing. Thanks for the hookups Trounce! Crazy coincidence was that we just saw Social D a few weeks ago together.

Youth Music Appreciation Night

For mutual, we just had a wonderful gathering with the youth, to teach them how to better appreciate the hymns of the church. One of the boys sent me over a short clip he shot from his phone, during one of his favorite hymns. As you can see, the spirit was strong and all were edified together.

The Whale(less) Watch

I took the 4 oldest screamers out whale watching today. The most beautiful day ever - calm, warm, sunny... Today, there was supposed to be whales all over the coast. On our way out to sea, a bunch of returning boats were raving at all the whales they saw. Liars. We cruised everywhere. No whales! We saw hundreds of dolphins and a bunch of sea lions, seals, etc.. Nothing like hanging out with a few buddies and a few crazy kids out at sea. Maybe next time kids!

Trevor's Big Day!

Trevor had his big baby blessing on Sunday. That's always a great experience for the family. Trevor cried during the whole blessing then fell asleep right when Tyler handed him off. So typical. It was still so special of course. So thankful for the family members that came. Way to go Trevor!

Mitt Romney stopped by OC about 1/2 mile from my office. Couldn't miss it. The warehouse was so packed with crowds outside. My buddy Russ and I worked our way in a back door and he snagged a chair to stand on. We scored on the view. It was great to see so many from the ward there.

Trip to SD

We just returned from spending most of the week in San Diego. We took the kids out of school and stayed at a little resort in Oceanside by the harbor. Had such a relaxing and sweet time. We're used to all cramming in a small hotel room together (that's always a blast too), but it was so nice to have some extra space at this little resort (parents time share).

We beach hopped and conquered the town. Always stinks to come back to reality and responsibilities again. Good times.

One "Shocking" Weekend

Last Thursday Tyler started getting the weirdest thing in his head. It was like electrical shocks that would zap his head every few minutes. It started out mild but by Saturday they were relentless and I was getting really worried. We researched head zaps on google and pretty much kept our anxieties to ourselves. We went to the doctor on Sunday. This guy never even heard of head zaps (not good). After his evaluation, (massaging Tyler's scalp and looking in his ear...what else is a doctor to do?) he practically forced the nurse to get him an apt with the neurologist for the next day hinting that it was probably something serious like an aneurysm or a tumor or some weird life threatening thing. I started trippin' worst case scenarios.......... then memories started flooding my mind. Tyler is my everything, he is my sunshine. He is the most unique person I have ever met. He is the truest friend and the best husband and father. I could never replace him. I wouldn't even try. Sunday was a long day. Monday came around and the neurologist diagnosed Tyler with this rare form of a headache (with some long medical term) related to migraines. YEAH!! No serious, life threatening problem. By the way, everything is great and his head is feeling perfectly better now. What a roller coaster that weekend was. The kids love to refer to their super-hero dad as "Shock".

We finally just bit the bullet and got a monster. Vans are never very exciting to purchase but it's going to be nice to finally have a little elbow room.

When Tyler and I first got inside we just started busting up. This is going to be an adventure.

Yes, we both know that there is nothing cool about driving a van. ha. We gave that up a long time ago.

Christmas Time

For Christmas Eve we got together with all the local relatives at Tyler's parents. Too much food and fun (always the motto). For a clip go to Kim and Eric's post on December 27. This will show you Christmas fun Davis style. Christmas day was so fun. Sara was surprised to see that Santa brought her an electric guitar. I was too. It was so much fun to see her gasping for air in disbelief. Cora got roller blades and had a similar reaction. The younger kids reacted that way with all their gifts. I love the grateful innocent phase of life.

The Great Hunt

We thought it would be nice to get the kids some real outdoor hunting experience. We told them if they catch a duck in under 10 min, we'll keep it as a pet. (what were we thinking?)

I was trimming the trees and this opossum popped out and hissed at me. It scared me to death. I called Tyler at work and he was home in 5 min. I laugh every time I watch this even though it freaked me out.

We finally had the baby!!! Trevor Andrew. He's healthy, cute, loud, and everything we hoped for. 7 lbs 3 oz, 20 inches and dark brown hair. He'll fit in just great. Welcome little buddy. We are all so excited. Let the fun begin. ha.
