The big Fathers and Sons outing was this weekend. Other than Aaron wandering off and a bunch of us searching for him for 1/2 hour, finding him alone in the woods a few hundred yards away, it went just great. Sheesh. Freaked me out!! It's a great time to camp when it's around 100 degrees and everyone is sticking to their sleeping bags. ha. The boys somehow just love it. ??

Alex's 4th birthday! Nice buddy.
Alex was so pumped to have Aunt Michelle all
the way from Portland to hang for the birthday.

A little wiener roast and smores in the back.

Since I was in the Elders' Quorum presidency last year I had the opportunity to plan the fathers and sons outing and therefore had to attend it as well even though I am not a father. I brought up one of my fellow presidency members and got a kick out of the fact that he brought a tent, sleeping bag, water purification tablets, emergency space blanket, walkie-talkies, three flash lights with spare batteries, and a mess kit. I was thinking, "Man, we're 10 minutes from Springville in an established camp site that's patrolled by the police. This might be overkill."
I brought a pillow, my toothbrush and toothpaste, a flashlight and a blanket.
I had a few "over-packing" jokes as his expense that night, but I wasn't laughing the following day when it took him an hour to pack all of his stuff back up.
It sounds like you and your boys erred on the "over-prepared" side with a tent and sleeping bag for a warm night in CA. I'm an Eagle Scout but I guess I wasn't following the motto.

By the way, was Aaron scared when he was lost or did he play it cool?

OK, how much cuter could the Davises be? The answer is none, none more...(you've seen Spinal Tap, right, or am I just wasting a reference? Glad you found your child; we lose Grace weekly, her nickname is the "Silent Wanderer."
Take care...we've attempted a blog, nothing side-splitting like yours, but come visit us!
